Roasted Nendran Bananas!

Few fruits, if at all any, can beat the taste, the flavor, the appetizing aroma, and the sheer nutritional goodness of fully ripe, organic, Nendran bananas, roasted slowly to sweet perfection.

Previously, when we were kids, our grandmother used to roast them on embers and the sight of the bananas roasting in their own juice within their jackets, with some juice bubbling out at either end, together with their heavenly aroma, would make us impatient to pull one out, to peel and bite in, but grandma would always make us wait until they were done, and then, a bit more, while they cooled off enough for us to sink our teeth into!

Nowadays, we simply pop them into the oven upon a banana leaf on a plate, and let them roast slowly into the irresistible, sweet and yummy traditional Kerala snack, a true boon of nature!
