Blue-winged Parakeet / Malabar Parakeet

Morning brings the mesmerizing sight of two beautiful, bluish grey parakeets – the male with a white-tipped red beak, and the female with a black beak – enjoying guavas at Sharanyam!

Some of the fruits, they eat directly from the tree, but some others, they pluck, roll over the branches, and cawing excitedly, carry away to a tall jackfruit tree nearby, to munch on at leisure!

Unafraid, they look curiously at the camera as they go after their breakfast!

When they fly, their tail feathers form bright yellow fans, a riveting sight, which unfortunately, I wasn’t quick enough to photograph.
